    摘要： An interactive television control/operating system for taking a copy of images displayed on a television, said copy comprising a segment of the displayed contents with a start and end point where the duration is substantially shorter than the original entire (broadcast) program, comprising means for selecting at least a start point for commencement of recording, memory means for storing a plurality of images corresponding to said segment whereby said plurality of images are stored as digital representations, means for converting said stored digital representation in to a signal for display on television, and means for selecting from said plurality of said segments for display.
    Means is provided for categorising said segments in to groups and a means for archiving said groups onto video tape or other storage medium in either digital or analogue signal form, and wherein said means for archiving said groups onto video tape further comprises means for automatically controlling a video recorder to enable a new segment to be appended to an area of the tape associated with the selected category.
    Means is provided for selecting segments for display based on a television display including textural menu and/or graphical menu and/or visual representation of said segments and a means for causing a video recorder to move to the position of the recorded segments and play said segments whereby said segments are retrieved and displayed on a television.
