The present disclosure relates to a method of determining a temperature distribution in a mould plate of a mould for a metal-making process, wherein the method comprises: obtaining (S 1 ) a temperature value from each of a plurality of temperature sensors arranged in the mould plate, each temperature sensor being spaced apart from a respective reference point in the mould plate, determining (S 2 ) for each temperature value a reference point temperature value at the corresponding reference point using a respective function describing a temperature relationship between the temperature value obtained from a temperature sensor and an estimated temperature at the corresponding reference point, and obtaining (S 3 ) an estimated temperature distribution at the reference points in the mould plate by means of the reference point temperature values.

An electromagnetic stirring and heating device (6) for an ingot casting device for ingot casting is presented. The ingot casting device comprises a mould (1-3) for casting of an ingot. The electromagnetic stirring and heating device (6) is arranged at a top of the mould. The electromagnetic stirring and heating device is configured to macroscopic stir the ingot with a varying frequency in the range 0-10 Hz, and to heat at a top of the ingot with a superimposed varying frequency in the range 20-200 Hz, on top of the electromagnetic stirring varying frequency. A method and an ingot casting device therefore are also presented.

A method for detecting temperature distribution of a molten metal in a casting mold having at least one copper plate, including determining by calculation or measurement an ideal molten flow of the metal, building-in a plurality of optical fibers into the copper plate based on flow, arranging the optical fibers inside at least the upper part of the copper plate, receiving the measurements of temperatures, and comparing the measurements of temperatures with a calculated/measured distribution of an ideal molten flow.
