摘要: This application describes methods and apparatus for controlling a voltage source converter (101 a) to energise a DC link (103). A voltage order generating module (300) generates a voltage order (V ORD ) for controlling the voltage source converter to generate a DC voltage on the DC link. the voltage order is based on a time varying voltage reference signal (R V ). An voltage reference module (301), which may include a ramp generator (306) generates the time varying voltage reference signal (R V ) such that the rate of change of the voltage reference signal changes over time. The rate of change of the voltage reference signal may decrease over time, to become more gradual as the nominal operating voltage is reached to avoid over-voltages.

摘要: This application relates to method and apparatus for start-up of a voltage source converter (VSC) which is connected to an energised DC link (DC+, DC-). The VSC (201) is connected to a first AC network (202) via a first transformer (203) and an AC isolation switch (204), the AC isolation switch being coupled between the first transformer and the AC network. The method involves using an auxiliary AC power supply (208) to generate an AC supply to energise the first transformer (203) with the AC isolation switch open. The VSC is then started, with a VSC controller (206) using the AC supply generated by the auxiliary AC power supply as a reference for controlling the VSC. The auxiliary AC power supply may also be used to supply power to at least one VSC load, such as the controller (206) and/or an auxiliary load (207) such as a cooling system. Once the VSC is started the isolation switch 204 can be closed.
