    摘要: A fuel composition, a lubricant composition, and methods for reducing friction or wear of moving parts. The fuel composition includes gasoline and from about 10 to about 500 ppm by weight of a dialkylaminoalkanol of the formula R 1 (R 2 )NCH 2 CH(R 3 )R 4 . The lubricant composition includes base oil of lubricating viscosity and from about 0.05 to about 5.0 weight percent of a dialkylaminoalkanol of the formula R 1 (R 2 )NCH 2 CH(R 3 )R 4 . In the above formulas wherein R 1 is an alkyl group or a hydroxyalkyl group containing from 8 to 50 carbon atoms; R 2 is an alkyl group containing from 1 to 4 carbon atoms; R 3 is selected from H and OH; and R 4 is selected from H, an alkyl group containing from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and CH 2 OH and wherein at least one of R 3 and R 4 contains a hydroxyl group and provided that when R 1 is a hydroxyalkyl group, R 3 is OH and R 4 is CH 2 OH.

    摘要: Methods of producing lubricity additives and lubricity additives are disclosed. The methods of producing lubricity additives include removing sulfur from a tall oil fatty acid to a level of about 25 ppm or less and fractionally crystallizing the tall oil fatty acid to produce a lubricity additive which does not form crystals at temperatures as low as about -28.9 °C (-20 °F). The sulfur may be removed prior to or after fractionally crystallizing the tall oil fatty acid. Methods of improving the lubricity of a fuel are also disclosed.

    摘要: A fuel soluble additive for a diesel engine, a method for improving performance of fuel injectors and a method for cleaning fuel injectors for a diesel engine. The fuel soluble additive includes a quaternary ammonium salt derived from the reaction of (a) a hydrocarbyl amine containing at least one tertiary amino group, (b) an epoxide compound selected from a glycidol, a glycidyl ether, glycidyl ester, polyglycidyl ether, a polyglycidyl ester, and combinations thereof, wherein substituents of the glycidyl group have, on average, less than five carbon atoms per hetero atom, and (c) optionally a proton donor.
