    摘要: This application relates to control methods and apparatus for a voltage source converter (100) comprising a plurality of energy storage devices (202) which can be selectively connected into an arm (301) of the voltage source converter. The apparatus comprises a model module (304) configured to generate a modelled value related to a first electrical parameter of the voltage source converter based on one or more model parameters and the operation of the voltage source converter. The apparatus further includes a model adaptation module (305) configured to receive the modelled value (VS) and also a measured value (VCap) related to the first electrical parameter, to determine an error between said modelled value and said measured value, and to generate a model control signal (Mcon) for adapting the model based on said error so that the modelled value substantially corresponds to the measured value. Control circuitry (303) is responsive to said model module and/or said model adaptation module to control operation of the VSC.

    摘要: This application relates to methods and apparatus for control apparatus of a voltage converter (401) for direct current transmission of electrical power over a transmission line (402). The control apparatus comprises regulation circuitry (403) for generating a regulation signal for the converter to regulate an electrical parameter of the transmission line, such as voltage or power. The regulation signal is based on the difference between a measured value of said parameter and a reference value of said parameter, as may be supplied from a reference control block (404) and may be derived from a demand signal indicating the voltage or power demand. The apparatus also includes damping circuitry (405) configured to generate a damping signal for modulating said regulation signal to reduce the effect of resonance within the bandwidth of control of the converter. The damping signal is generated as a function of a measured voltage or current of the transmission line and an impedance value for the transmission line. The damping signal may be high-pass filtered (407) so as to have no substantial impact on steady state operation.

    摘要: This application describes a voltage source converter (300) of the controlled transition bridge type, having three phase limbs, each phase limb having a high side director switch (S w1 , S W3 , S W5 ) and a low side director switch (S w4 , S W6 , S W2 ) connecting a respective DC terminal (DC+, DC-) to an AC node (102a-c) for that phase limb. Chain-link circuits (101 a-c) for each phase limb comprise a plurality of series connect cells (103), each cell having an energy storage element (105) that can be selectively connected in series or bypassed. The chain-link circuits are operated in a voltage mode to provide a defined voltage transition at the AC node during a transition between one director switch being turned off and the other directors switch being turned on. In embodiments of the invention the chain-link circuits (101 a-c) are connected to a common node such that, in use, a current can flow from one phase limb to another via the respective chain-link circuits. A converter controller (900) operates a chain-link circuit of a phase limb in a current mode to provide a defined chain-link current for at least part of the time when that phase limb is not in a transition state. The defined current can allow correct circulation of the DC current and/or provide capacitor balancing of the capacitors of a chain-link circuit. Additional chain-link circuits (301, 302) are provided between the DC terminals and the common node to provide a DC current in a converter state where all the high side or low side director switches are off at the same time.
