The at least one insulator 1504 has an engagement end 1530 and an interface end 1532 opposite the engagement end 1530. The interface end 1532 has a lead-in tip portion 1538 that extends outside of one of the first and second ends of the shell 1502. The at least one insulator 1504 has an inner bore 1536 for receiving an inner contact 1506. A retaining sleeve 1524 is disposed around the conductive shell 1502, the retaining sleeve 1524 having an engagement member 1552 for engaging the at least one insulator 1504.

    a second guide member (140) slidably and flexibly coupled to the holder (130) of the contact assembly (110), the second guide member (140) having a plurality of second openings (144) corresponding to each of the second contact ends (122), respectively;
    and a biasing member (150) disposed between the first and second guide members (140), the biasing member (150) biasing the first and second guide members (140) away from one another to an open position, wherein when the first and second guide members (140) are in the open position, the first and second contact ends (120, 122) are recessed in the first and second guide members (140), respectively, and not exposed, and wherein the first and second guide members (140) are movable from the open position to a compressed position in which the biasing member (150) is compressed to expose the first and second contact ends (122) outside of the openings (144) of the first and second guide members (140), respectively.

    摘要： A float connector for interconnecting two printed circuit boards that includes a contact assembly including a plurality of contacts and a holder therefor such that opposite ends thereof are exposed outside of the holder. The holder supports each contact in a clearance fit inside thereof, thereby allowing each contact to radially tilt to compensate for radial misalignment between the boards. A first guide member has a plurality of first guide features corresponding to the ends of the contacts, respectively, for aligning the contact ends for electrical connection with one board. A second guide member has a plurality of second guide features corresponding to the ends of the contacts, respectively, for aligning the contact ends for electrical connection with the other board. The contact assembly is axially moveable between the guide members along an axis generally parallel to longitudinal axes of the contacts to compensate for axial misalignment between the boards.
