    摘要: A wireless communication bus system for transmitting electromagnetic signals to and from devices located in defined areas of a managed building space partitioned into a plurality of rooms is disclosed. A controller device located above a ceiling grid system generates electromagnetic signals to control operation of the devices through a plurality of wireless transmitter/receiver modules, also located above the ceiling grid. The wireless transmitter/receiver devices together form a wireless communication bus and relay electromagnetic control signals between the controller and the controlled devices. Wireless repeater transmitter/receiver modules can also be added to the wireless communication bus to relay electromagnetic signals between other wireless transmitter/receiver devices that form part of the wireless bus. Each wireless transmitter/receiver module has a unique address that can be selected by the controller in order to relay an electromagnetic signal to a device that is closest to the wireless transmitter/receiver module. The wireless transmitter/receiver modules operate on different frequencies set by the controller to enable direct communication with targeted devices.

    摘要: A ceiling tile transmitter and receiver system having at least one transmitter/receiver device located in a ceiling panel either during or after the ceiling panel fabrication process. In one embodiment one or more pockets of variable size and shape are created on a surface of the ceiling panel during or after the ceiling panel manufacturing process and then a transmitter/receiver device, such as an RF antenna, is rigidly fixed in the pocket In another embodiment, the transmitter/receiver device is embedded in the front side (lower surface) of the ceiling tile and a "scrim" covering is placed over it to secure it in place. The transmitter/receiver device can also be embedded inside the ceiling tile or rigidly fixed on an upper, lower or side surface of the ceiling tile. The transmitter/receiver device can be encased on the front surface of the ceiling tile, where the transmitter adds to, or integrates into, the overall aesthetics of the ceiling tile. A high temperature resistant "place holding" structure that can withstand the ceiling tile treatments can be provided and later removed to allow the installation of the transmitter/receiver device.

    摘要: A ceiling tile antenna (10) for use in wireless local area networks and voice networks. A patch style antenna (10) is manufactured in which the dielectric substrate is the ceiling tile (30) itself, and the radiating element (20) and the ground plane (40) are fixed to the face and back of the tile, respectively. Since the ceiling tile (30) acts as the antenna, the back of the ceiling tile does not have to be routed out to create a cavity for an antenna pod. The sizes of the radiating element (20) and the ground plane (40) are not an issue; therefore no miniaturization of the elements is required. Compared to microstrip antennas, a ceiling tile antenna provides a wider bandwidth and higher gain due to the thicker dielectric substrate used for the ceiling tile construction. Therefore, it is easier to achieve multiple resonances. The ceiling tile (30) used as an antenna can be made from mineral fiber, medium density fiber board, fiberglass, drywall and polyvinyl chloride.

The panel is then irradiated and the light-responsive indicia observed. In another aspect, a panel having an embedded object is provided with an indicator device that is embedded in the same panel. The indicator detects a query signal emitted by a scanner, compares the detected signal with information stored in the memory of the indicator, and if a match is found, emits a visible or audible signal from a signal output device into the room below. The signal output device can be a light emitting diode or a sound generator.
