A flexible metal pipe (2) is coated with a sealing sheath made of one or more shrinkable polymers, preferably of the semi-crystalline type. The invention is characterized in that an intermediate layer (8) is arranged between the shrinkable polymer sheath and the metal pipe, said layer being made of an optionally cured or crosslinked elastomer and/or a thermoplastic elastomer. Said layer is either in the form of a continuous tubular envelope (Fig. 3) or in the form of a strip (Figs. 4 to 6). The sheathed pipes of the invention are useful, in particular, in the manufacture of flexible, optionally reinforced oil and gas pipes.

From the inside to the outside, the inventive flowline comprises the following: a spirally wound flexible metal frame (2) with non-connecting coils (3), a compressible rod (10) disposed in the gap (9) between the consecutive coils of the spiral winding, an inner extruded impervious sheath (4) on said metal frame, at least one layer of armouring that is wrapped around the inner impervious sheath (4) and at least one outer impervious sheath (8) disposed around the sheet of armouring. The invention is characterised in that the compressible rod (10) has a high volumetric deformation of at least 50 % when compressed.
