The invention relates to a piece of equipment for the production of a closed-section cross-member which is intended to connect two longitudinal arms of a flexible axle of a motor vehicle. The inventive equipment comprises at least one matrix (3) which is intended to co-operate with a punch (2) in order to form a torsion area (L) of a certain length on the closed section of the cross-member and means for maintaining the cross-member in position. The invention is characterised in that the length of the matrix (3) and/or the punch (2) can be adapted in order to adapt the length of the torsion area (L).
