    摘要: Disclosed is a method for producing a 2,2'-dihydroxybiphenyl by oxidatively coupling two phenol molecules comprising a hydrogen atom in an ortho position with the aid of a peroxide at 0 °C to 100 °C in the presence of water. The inventive method is characterized in that the production is done in the presence of a polymer that is insoluble in water and contains a) 0 to less than 100 wt. % of a vinyl heterocycle, b) 0 to 10 wt. % of a bifunctional crosslinking component, c) 0 to less than 100 wt. % of styrol or a monounsaturated styrol derivative or the mixtures thereof, d) 0 to 100 wt. % of an N-vinylamide of an aliphatic carboxylic acid or the monomers obtained by hydrolyzing said amide group, and e) 0 to 100 wt. % of a propenoic acid or the esters, amides, or salts thereof or the monomers obtained by hydrolyzing said amide group or ester group, provided that the moiety of compound d), e), or d) and e) amounts to more than 0 wt. %.
