The invention relates to binding agent mixtures containing at least one compound (A), which contains hydroxyl groups, and at least 1.0 wt.%, relative to the non-volatile components of the binding agent mixture, of at least one catalyst (D) containing phosphorous and nitrogen for crosslinking silane groups. The invention is characterized in that it contains at least one hydroxy-functional polyester as compound (A) which contains hydroxyl groups, wherein at least one hydroxyl function of the polyester is esterified with at least one C8 to C9 monocarboxylic acid in the agent. The binding agent mixtures also contain at least one catalyst (D) which is blocked with at least one tertiary amine of the formula (I). R1 is an acyclic aliphatic or araliphatic hydrocarbon residue with at least 3 C atoms, R 2 is an acyclic aliphatic or araliphatic hydrocarbon residue that is identical to or different from R 1 and/or R 3, and R 3 is hydrogen or an acyclic aliphatic or araliphatic hydrocarbon residue that is identical to or different from R 1 and/or R 2. The invention relates to coating agents comprising (a) at least one compound (A) containing hydroxyl groups, (b) at least one saturated compound (B) having free and/or blocked isocyanate groups comprising at least partially hydrolysable silane groups, and (c) at least one catalyst (D) for cross-linking silane groups, characterized in that the coating agent comprises at least one hyperbranched, dendritic hydroxy-functional polyester as the compound containing hydroxyl groups (A), wherein at least one hydroxyl function of the polyester is esterified by at least one acid selected from the group of isomers C8 to C9 monocarboxylic acids. The present invention further relates to a multistage coating method using said coating agent and to the use of the coating agent as a clear varnish for producing multilayer paint coatings producing effects and/or coloring, and to the use of the coating method for series painting and repair painting of automobiles.
