Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing carbon fibers from cellulose fibers, characterized in that cellulose fibers having a water content of more than 20 parts by weight of water to 100 parts by weight of cellulose fiber are brought in contact with a solution of additives and thereafter the additive-containing cellulose fibers, which contain at least 1 part by weight of additives to 100 parts by weight of cellulose, are converted into carbon fibers.
