Abstract: A method for producing o-xylene comprises the steps of a) the dimerizing of 2-butenes into 3,4- and/or 2,3-dimethylhexenes and b) the dehydrogenating aromatizing of 3,4- and/or 2,3 dimethylhexenes to xylenes, and is suitable for the selective production of o-xylene.
