Abstract: Process for making a partially coated electrode active material wherein said process comprises the following steps:
(a) formula Li 1+x TM 1-x O 2 , wherein TM contains at least 90 mol-% Ni, and x is in the range of from - 0.05 to 0.05,
(b) treating said electrode active material with an alkoxide or amide of zirconium,
(c) treating the material obtained in step (b) with moisture,
(d) repeating the sequence of steps (b) and (c) four to twelve times,
(e) performing a post-treatment by heating the material obtained after the last step (d) at a temperature from 250 to 750°C.
