The aim of the invention is to provide a solution for properly operating a plurality of domestic appliances (2, 3, 4) in a household without overloading a power supply system. A domestic appliance (2, 3, 4) having an internal electrical consumer (8, 10, 13, 15) and a control unit (5, 6, 7) is provided with a communication unit (11, 14, 16) via which the control unit (5, 6, 7) transmits data to other domestic appliances (2, 3, 4) and/or receives data from other domestic appliances (2, 3, 4). For transmission, the control unit (5, 6, 7) transmits such data via the communication unit (11, 14, 16) which comprise information on a time of an imminent start-up of the internal consumer (8, 10, 13, 15). For reception, the control unit (5, 6, 7) extracts information on the time of an imminent start-up of an electrical consumer (8, 10, 13, 15) of another domestic appliance (2, 3, 4) from the received data and controls the internal consumer (8, 10, 13, 15) taking said information into consideration.

The invention relates to a method and to a circuit arrangement for carrying out initialisation/registration steps for a device (HG1), in particular a household appliance, which can be connected to a network (HB) wherein the first initialisation/registration of the device (HG1) is controlled by adding an initialisation signal on the actuation of a mechanical circuit device (SL) and wherein an address clearly identifying the device (HG1) in the network (HB) is allocated to said device (HG1) for initialisation/registration. In order to carry out the initialisation/registration, a control state signal which corresponds to circuit state of circuit device (SL) is stored in a flag memory (MS) which is associated with said device after the first initialisation/registration of the device (HG1); after stopping and then restarting the device (HG1) in said network (HB), the adjusting state of the circuit device (SL) is compared to the memory state of the flag memory (MS) which corresponds to a determined combination function. A novel initialisation/registration of the device (HG1) in the network (HB) takes place only in the presence of a determined, fixed combination relation between the adjusting state of the circuit device (SL) of the device (HG1) and the memory state of the separate flag memory (MS).

The invention relates to a domestic appliance (1) which is supplied with an AC supply voltage (U v ). The frequency (f) of the AC supply voltage (U v ) is detected by a control unit (3) and predetermined processes are initiated in the domestic appliance (1) depending on the respective current value of the frequency (f). Specifically, an electrical consumer (4) is controlled by the control unit (3) taking into consideration the respective current value of the frequency (f). The invention makes use of the fact that the frequency (f) represents a measure for a load condition of the power supply system (5).

The invention relates to a method for operating a domestic appliance (1) wherein the domestic appliance (1) is supplied with power from a power supply system (5). A control unit (2) receives data which contain information on the power supply, especially information on how the power was generated and/or on the load condition of the power supply system (5). The control unit (2) checks whether a predetermined criterion relating to said information is met. Once said predetermined criterion is met, the control unit (2) produces a control signal which initiates a change in the operating state of the domestic appliance (1).
