In order to carry out the initialisation/registration, a control state signal which corresponds to circuit state of circuit device (SL) is stored in a flag memory (MS) which is associated with said device after the first initialisation/registration of the device (HG1); after stopping and then restarting the device (HG1) in said network (HB), the adjusting state of the circuit device (SL) is compared to the memory state of the flag memory (MS) which corresponds to a determined combination function. A novel initialisation/registration of the device (HG1) in the network (HB) takes place only in the presence of a determined, fixed combination relation between the adjusting state of the circuit device (SL) of the device (HG1) and the memory state of the separate flag memory (MS).

The invention relates to a water-bearing domestic appliance which has a container for liquid that can be filled using a valve located in a conduit for liquid. In said container, a fill-level can be detected for monitoring at least one safety level of a safety device (1). According to the invention, the safety device (1) is configured as an optical light guiding system for reflecting a light ray (5) which allows the fill level to be detected, based on a modification in the reflection behaviour of at least one reflective point (7, 8) and is used to monitor the safety level. The inventive configuration as an optical light guiding system has the advantage that moving mechanical components, such as a float, level control, control lever, control rod etc. are no longer needed. The risk of mechanical failure which involves considerable expenditure, both in terms of reparation time and costs, can thus be reduced to a minimum or completely eliminated.
