The present invention is directed to a multimodal polyethylene copolymer comprising a first and a second copolymer of ethylene and at least two alpha-olefin comonomers. Such multimodal copolymers are highly suitable for conversion processes that require a high Draw Down Ratio, like the production of thin films. Such multimodal polyethylene copolymers provide a good impact strength in the sense of a high Dart drop impact strength (DDI) and good isotropy of the films produces thereof. The invention further presents final articles such as films made therefrom.

The present invention is a process for producing low density copolymers of ethylene and alpha-olefins having from 4 to 10 carbon atoms in three polymerization stages in the presence of an olefin polymerization catalyst where a low molecular weight copolymer of ethylene is produced in two of the stages and a high molecular weight copolymer in one of the stages. The resulting copolymers have a low density of not more than 920 kg/m 3 .

The present invention deals with a process for polymerising ethylene in the presence of an olefin polymerisation catalyst comprising titanium, magnesium and halogen in at least one polymerisation stage where ethylene is polymerised in slurry, the process comprising treating the polymerisation catalyst in a pre-treatment step by polymerising an olefin on the polymerisation catalyst so that the ratio of the weight of the olefin polymer to the weight of the original solid catalyst component is from 0.1 to 10 g/g and using the pre-treated catalyst in the production of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene.

The present invention is concerned with a polyethylene composition comprising a base resin having a density of more than 952.0 kg/m 3 and equal to or less than 957.0 kg/m 3 , wherein the composition has a melt flow rate MFR 5 of 0.12 to 0.21 g/10min and the polyethylene composition has a polydispersity index PI within the range of higher than 4.9 Pa -1 and equal to or less than 9.0 Pa -1 . Furthermore, the present invention concerns a polyethylene composition obtainable by a multistage process, the multistage process comprising polymerizing ethylene in the presence of a silica supported Ziegler Natta catalyst in a reactor cascade comprising a first loop reactor, a second loop reactor and a gas phase reactor for obtaining the base resin and then extruding the base resin together with stabilizers and carbon black into the polyethylene composition. Furthermore, the present invention relates to an article, such as a pipe, made from the polyethylene composition and the use of the polyethylene composition for the production of such an article.
