摘要: A system for implanting an implant and method thereof is disclosed. In general overview, the system includes an implant (10), an envelope (20) enclosing the implant, a delivery assembly (650) and an attachment piece (350) for attaching the envelope or implant to the delivery assembly. The envelope may include a drug coating, positioning aids, and means to ease envelope removal. In one embodiment, the delivery assembly is employed for implant and/or envelope delivery inside the patient's body. In another embodiment, the delivery assembly and an attachment piece are employed to deliver the implant or the envelope inside the patient's body.

摘要: The present invention includes a method and apparatus for adhering tissue to one another. In an embodiment of the present invention the two tissues to be joined, for example the lower esophagus (110) and the fundus of the stomach (330), are first placed adjacent to one another. Next a first restraint (220) is placed near the outside surface (325) of one of the tissues and a second restraint (200) is placed near the outside surface of the other tissue (310). An irritant (210) is then placed between the two adjacent tissues. The restraints (220, 200), and consequently the tissue surfaces, are then drawn together. As the touching irritated tissue surfaces heal they will become bonded to one another and their need for the mechanical fastening of the restraints, to secure them together, will be diminished.

摘要: Manuel bone anchor placement devices include a lever, a force translator and a rotary force mechanism. The devices are substantially gun- or pistol-shaped and are actuated when a user squeezes the lever to the gripping portion of a handle. Manual, linear force on the lever is mechanically translated through the force translator to the rotary force mechanism which transmits a rotary force to a securing element, or coupler, which mates with a bone anchor screw. The rotation of the securing element or coupler applies a torque on the bone anchor screw thereby placing the screw into bone. Kits comprising any of: a molded flexible sleeve for enclosing a suture, a retaining clip for preventing the suture from slipping out of the sleeve, a buttress-shaped bone anchor screw comprising a micropolished eyelet for receiving a suture, and a suture which may, or may not be pre-attached to the bone anchor screw, are disclosed. A collapsible, protective cover for a bone anchor screw is also disclosed.

摘要: The invention provides a driver (70) and methods for advancing needles, cannulas (90), and other medical devices through the pubic bone (45). The driver (70) may be used in connection with a driver frame assembly (100) for proper positioning and stabilization of the driver (70), and with other devices for creating a cavity in the urethral floor and for positioning medical devices therein. The invention also provides simple connections (126) for attaching a suture (88) to a device within the cavity in the urethral floor or in the vagina (4), and also for attaching sutures (88) to the pubic bone (45).

摘要: Surgical tissue fasteners and related deployment systems and methods are disclosed. A tissue fastener used to join multiple tissue layers includes a first member, a second member, and a connecting member connecting the first and second members. In some embodiments, the first and second members are configured to expand from a delivered state to a deployed state in which the fastener secures the tissue layers together. Other tissue fastener embodiments include means for applying a substantially constant force on the tissue layers and/or means for adjusting a length of the connecting member between the first and second members.

摘要: A prostatic stent (3) comprises a body member (5) and a retaining member. The body member (5) includes a distal terminating end (4), a proximal end portion (7), and a lumen extending within the body member to allow fluid drainage through the body member. The body member (5) is sized for placement substantially within the prostatic section of the urethra, with the distal terminating end (4) located proximal of an external sphincter to allow normal operation of the external sphincter. The retaining member (8) extends from the proximal end portion (7) of the body member (5). The retaining member (8) is collapsible into a first state to allow passage of the prostatic stent (3) into the urethra, and the retaining member (8) is expandable into a second state when located in a bladder to hold the body member (5) in place substantially within the prostatic section of the urethra.
