    摘要: A printing apparatus is capable of being driven by a battery (20) for an extended period of time without using a battery having a large capacity, and the battery (20) is capable of being charged while the occurrence of the memory effect is suppressed. Also provided is a method of charging the battery (20) in this apparatus. Battery capacity is detected in the driving interval of a carriage motor (8) and/or conveyance motor (10). When the battery capacity falls below a predetermined value, control is performed in such a manner that the driving intervals of the carriage motor (8) and conveyance motor (10) will not overlap. When charging of the battery is designated, the battery (20) is discharged using a current load in the apparatus, after which the battery (20) is charged.

    摘要: An ink jet recording apparatus to which a power source 24 is supplied from a battery 20 and which executes the recording onto a recording sheet P by using a recording head 12 which discharges an ink from a discharge port comprises: a battery detector to detect go-down in battery capacity of the battery 20 on the basis of a voltage of the battery; a capping device 5022 to cover the discharge port of the recording head; a load control circuit to apply a load to the battery for a predetermined period of time just before the capping device releases the covering of the discharge port of the recording head; a detection control circuit for allowing the battery detector to detect the voltage for the predetermined period of time; and a motor 10 to relatively move the recording head and the recording sheet. The load control circuit applies the load to the battery by supplying the power source from the battery to the motor for the predetermined period of time.
