    摘要: An image forming apparatus which has a constitution of a tandem type and an intermediary transfer type and which is capable of adjusting a liquid amount of a carrier liquid layer formed on an intermediary transfer belt depending on an image forming mode.
    In a case of a full-color mode (YES of S2), a controller sets an operation mode of a liquid amount adjusting device at a "removal mode" (S4). In a case of a monochromatic mode (NO of S2), the controller sets the operation mode at a "supply mode" (S6). In the removal mode, a carrier liquid in the carrier liquid tank is not carried on a feeding roller, so that the carrier liquid is removed from the belt by the feeding roller. In the supply mode, the carrier liquid drawn up from the carrier liquid tank by a supplying roller is supplied to the belt via the feeding roller. Thus, liquid amount adjustment of the carrier liquid layer depending on the image forming mode is carried out, so that an occurrence of improper transfer due to a shortage of the carrier can be suppressed while suppressing an excessive carrier during full-color mode.
