A process for the formation of an image on a conductive substrate which comprises (i) electrodepositing on a conductive surface a photosensitive film from an aqueous composition which is a solution or dispersion comprising a mixture of (A) a photosensitive o-benzoquinone diazide sulphonyl amide or o-naphthoquinone diazide sulphonyl amide and (B) an electrodepositable film-forming resin which is a cationic, anionic or cationic/anionic homo- or copolymer of vinyl monomers in (C) an aqueous medium, said composition being substantially free from a resin having both a quinone diazide residue and a carboxyl, phosphonic or sulphonic acid group or amino group in the same molecule, in which step the electrodeposition is carried out by immersing the substrate on which the image is to be formed as an electrode in the aqueous composition, immersing a conductive material as another electrode and passing an electric current through the aqueous composition to deposit a photosensitive film of the required thickness on the substrate, (ii) subjecting the electrodeposited film to radiation in a predetermined pattern, such that exposed areas of the film become more soluble in aqueous base than unexposed areas, and (iii) removing the exposed areas by treatment with an aqueous base. The process is useful in the production of printing plates and printed circuits.

Kationisch polymerisierbare Materialien, wie Epoxidharze, Phenolplaste und Aminoplaste werden dadurch polymerisiert, dass man durch ein Stoffgemisch, enthaltend
(A) ein kationisch polymerisierbares Material, und (B) einen Bortrifluoridkomplex,
zwischen einer mit dem Stoffgemisch in Berührung stehenden Anode und Kathode elektrischen Strom durchleitet, wodurch auf der Anode polymerisiertes Material abgeschieden wird. Als Komplexe (B) können beispielsweise Bortrifluorid- Komplexe mit primären, sekundären oder tertiären Aminen oder mit Trialkyl- oder Triarylphosphinen verwendet werden. Das Verfahren eignet sich besonders zum Beschichten von leitenden Substraten, wobei eine rasche Härtung erzielt wird, ohne dass spezielle Formulierungen erforderlich sind, um das Polymere galvanisch abscheidbar zu machen.
