摘要： Method and system for analyzing trends. A host system is linked with a plurality of point-of-sale systems. A master terminal may also act as a complete point-of-sale system. The point-of-sale systems store transactional data relating to purchases made. At the host level or at the master terminal, desired trends relating to the sales of products are identified by the retailer or manufacturer. Desired responses for responding to the trends are determined. A trend analysis system, using the transactional data, generates a response to the trends using the information linking the trend with the desired response. The instruction are sent to modify the operation of the point-of-sale system to respond to the trends. The response may be a promotional offer designed to make sales meet the desired trends, such as a coupon, a discount or a price reduction.
