The invention relates to a ceramic active ingredient based on aluminium oxide and sintered bodies produced therefrom. Sintering temperatures below 1400 °C are possible by means of a selected composition of the starting substance. The sintered bodies are characterised in that they have a low coefficient of friction, good dry-running properties and can be used in a particularly advantageous manner in the form of sealing disks or sliding rings.
