The invention relates to a tyre tread comprising: a plurality of tread pattern elements having side surfaces and a contact surface intended to make contact with the road during the rotation of a tyre provided with said tread, the contact limit between the contact surface and the ground forming at least one edge; and a plurality of cut-outs (3) in the form of a groove and/or incision, said cut-outs (3) being defined by opposing side surfaces, and each tread pattern element being formed with at least a first rubber mix (know as the "base mix"). The tread is characterised in that, seen in section in a plane normal to the axis of rotation of the tyre and extending through at least one contact surface of a tread pattern element, at least one of the cut-outs adjacent to said contact surface is covered at least partially with a cover layer and in that the cover layer comprises an assembly of woven or non-woven fibres.

The invention relates to a rubber composition that can be used as a tire tread having improved adhesion on melting ice, comprising at least one diene elastomer such as natural rubber and/or a polybutadiene, more than 30 pce of a liquid plasticizer, between 50 and 150 pce of a reinforcing filler such as silica or carbon black, and between 2 and 40 pce of microparticles of a water-soluble sulfate of an alkali or alkali earth metal such as a magnesium sulfate, wherein said composition is characterized in that the volumetric microparticle size distribution, measured by laser grading as per ISO Standard 13320-1, satisfies the following relations: 50 μm 50 Span 50 is the diameter of the median particle corresponding to 50% of the cumulative distribution of particles; Span = (D 90 - D 10 ) / D 50 ; wherein D 10 and D 90 are the diameters of the particle corresponding to 10% and to 90%, respectively, of the cumulative particle distribution. The invention also relates to tire treads incorporating such a composition, as well as to said tires themselves.
