Said device contains an axial plug (4) for sealing the hollow profiled element (1) on the end thereof, said plug comprising an axial through channel (5) supplying a pressurised fluid. According to said method, the component (2) and the hollow section (1) are positioned in relation to one another in a hydroforming die and are subsequently joined with the aid of a fluidic internal high pressure in the hollow section (1). The aim of the invention is to join a planar component (2) and a hollow section (1) in a simple and reliable manner. To achieve this, under the prevailing internal high pressure, the adjacent walls (3,5) of the hollow section (1) and component (2) that are to be joined are impinged by a punch (6) that is integrated into the hydroforming die, in such a way that the wall (3) of the hollow section (1) is perforated. The result of said perforation is that the punched waste (7) remains attached at one point on the border (8) of the hole, increasing in width towards its free end (9), and that a section of the wall (5) of the component (2) is bent in the form of a tongue (10), which has the same shape as the punched waste (7), into the hollow section (1), to engage behind the border (8) of the hole in said hollow section (1).

To this end, the invention provides that surfaces (11) which are undercut by means of the internal high pressure on the walls (12, 13) of the hollow profiled piece (2) and of the part (3) are formed whereby resulting in the formation of at least one common indentation, which produces the positive engagement, on the walls (12, 13) of the hollow profiled piece (2) and of the part (3). Said installation (1) comprises at least one axial punch (8) which is used to seal the hollow profiled element (7) at one end (9) and comprises an axial through channel (10), by which means an internal high pressure can be produced by a pressurised fluid in the hollow profiled element (7) in order to enlarge the same. The inventive installation (1) also comprises a rapid filling device (11) provided with a filling attachment (12) with a filling borehole (13),(29) which has a diameter that is larger than that of the through channel (10) of the axial punch (8), and which is used to fill the hollow profiled element (7) with pressurised fluid when the axial punch (8) is set back from the respective hollow profiled end (9). The filling attachment (12) has a through borehole (14) that is penetrated by the axial punch (8) during the forming of the hollow profiled element (7). The aim of the invention is to be able to easily produce hollow profiled elements (7) formed by internal high pressure, on a large scale, by means of a rapid filling device (11) that is integrated into the installation (1) and is used to fill the hollow profiled element (7). To this end, the filling attachment is connected to a transport device that places the filling attachment (12) in a contact position on the form tool (2), and then in a position at a distance from the form tool after the filling process.
