摘要: The present invention involves a method and system for transmitting data in an optical or hybrid optical and RF wireless network from a base structure (10, 110, 111) including a base apparatus (120) to a target device including a target apparatus (140). The base apparatus includes a base receiver (122), a laser (126), a device for positioning a laser-emitted beam (128), and a base microprocessor (124). The target apparatus includes a target transmitter (142), a photodetector (146), and a target microprocessor (144). Once the target device comes to a rest beneath the base structure, the target transmitter communicates the presence of the target apparatus to the base receiver. A communication uplink is established between the target apparatus and the base apparatus. The base microprocessor then activates the laser and instructs a commercial laser based steering system to continually adjust the position of the laser beam in a search pattern until it illuminates the photodetector, at which time a communication downlink is established between the base apparatus and target apparatus. Data is then transmitted from the laser to the photodetector via the communication downlink at speeds of 100 Mbps to 10Gbps.

摘要: A system (10) and method (300) for generating an acoustic database for a particular narrator (22) that does not require said narrator (22) to recite a pre-defined script. The system (10) and method (300) generate an acoustic database by using voice recognition or speech-to-text algorithms to automatically generate a text script of a voice message while simultaneously or near-simultaneously sampling the voice message to create the acoustic database. The acoustic database may be associated with the narrator (22) of the voice message by an identifier, such as a telephone number. The acoustic database may then be used by a text-to-speech processor to read a text message when the narrator (22) is identified as the sender of the text massage, providing an audio output (38) of the contents of the text message with a simulation of the sender's voice. The user (12) of the system (10) may be provided an audio message that sounds like the originator of the text message.

摘要: The present invention provides a system and method for degrading and disabling a vehicle's engine throttle. The vehicle disable system includes a throttle position sensor (220, 320, 420) that generates a throttle position signal, an electronic control module ("ECM") input (324b, 424b) connected to the ECM on which the throttle position sensor provides the throttle position signal to the ECM, and an override input (383, 483) that enables an idling signal to be transmitted to the ECM in lieu of the throttle position signal. The method of the present invention includes the steps of receiving an input signal related to the state of a driver input mechanism (534, 734), interpreting the input signal, and at least one of degrading and disabling the throttle based on the interpretation of the input signal.
