摘要: The present invention relates to inspection apparatus for use in wellbores in the oil and gas industries. In particular the invention relates in general to the field of transmission of data between downhole module in a wellbore and a controlling module at the surface. The invention provides a method and apparatus for determining analog filter parameters for an analog front end comprising a plurality of filter stages receiving signals from a telemetry module, by repeating the steps of; receiving a signal of a known frequency and processing said signal by determining the magnitude of the frequency of the received signal until a plurality of signals have been received and processed; calculating an optimum set of filter parameters in dependence upon the measured frequency magnitudes and a predefined set of filter stage frequency responses.

摘要: An inspection assembly has a lens 242 located at a distal end, a light source 258 positioned to illuminate beyond the distal end, and an optical cap 244. The optical cap comprises an optically clear dome-shaped window element 292 attached by brazing, welding or fusing to a metal collar, and the collar includes means for securing the optical cap to the inspection assembly. The window element may be made of sapphire, quartz or diamond and may have substantially the same coefficient of thermal expansion as the metal from which the collar is made. The collar may be made of titanium, and may comprise a ring element 296 and a sleeve element 268, wherein the ring element is bonded to the window and the sleeve is bonded to the ring. The inspection assembly may be suitable for downhole or wellbore inspection.

摘要: An inspection assembly, reflection collar 66 for an inspection assembly and a method of illuminating an area, suitable for use in inspection or camera systems operating in internal spaces, e.g. downhole or in pipelines. The assembly comprises a light source 58, a lens 42 at a distal end of a body portion, and a reflection surface (Fig.7, 82) at an angle between 10 and 70 degrees from the longitudinal axis of the body portion. The reflection surface, which may be annular, is positioned such that a fraction of the light emitted from the light source is reflected and a fraction illuminates beyond the distal end of the body portion without reflection. The lens may be a fish-eye wide angle lens and an image sensor may capture an image through it. A reflection collar having a bore to receive part of an inspection assembly, and being fixed relative to the assembly, may provide the reflective surface for partial reflection of the light source.

摘要: This invention is designed for use in transmission of data between downhole module in a wellbore and a controlling module at the surface. The invention provides an apparatus for receiving data signals from a telemetry module comprising first and second adaptive equalisers, and in which in a first modulation mode the coefficients of the first adaptive equaliser are updated until an error signal falls below a predetermined threshold and in a second modulation mode the coefficients of the first adaptive equaliser are locked and coefficients of the second adaptive equaliser are updated to continually minimise an error signal in which the number of bits encoded by the symbols of the first signal in an initial modulation mode is fewer than the number of bits encoded by the symbols of the second signal in a subsequent modulation mode.
