The invention relates to a method for detecting the constant torque blocking speed of a direct current electric step motor (1) co-operating with at least one position sensor (2), having characteristic curves for speed as a function of the resisting torque that are linear, with a known slope, and homothetic according to the motor (1) supply voltage. The inventive method is characterised in that it comprises the following steps: counting of n steps after the motor (1) is started; storing of duration Tn of the period of the nth step, the value of which forms an address in the storage means (12) of a table of period durations corresponding to motor (1) blocking detection speed ux as a function of the supply voltage; reading of the value corresponding to the blocking detection speed which is stored in said address; storing of said value; continuous measuring of duration T of the period of the steps, corresponding to the motor (1) output speed; continuous comparison of said stored duration value with the T measured motor (1) output value; and sending of a stop signal to the motor (1) control unit if value T is greater than or equal to the stored value.
