The invention further relates to a method for producing the effect pigment and use of the effect pigment in anti-fouling coatings.

The invention relates to multilayer effect pigments comprising laminar transparent substrates having an optically effective coating which includes at least (a) a non-absorbing high-refractive layer A having a refractive index n ≥ 1.8, (b) a low-refractive layer B having a refractive index n 10 , D 50 , D 90 and a span ΔD ranging from 0.7 to 1.4, the span ΔD being calculated according to formula (I) ΔD = (D 90 - D 10 )/D 50 . The invention further relates to a method for producing said multilayer effect pigments and to the use thereof.

The invention relates to platelet-shaped pearlescent pigments which are coated with at least one mixed inorganic/organic layer for improving their application properties, and in this case, particularly, their mechanical properties, and to a method for the production and use thereof. Said mixed inorganic/organic layer comprises at least one partially cross-linked inorganic metal oxide component and an organic component, which is at least one organic oligomer and/or polymer which is covalently bonded, at least in part, to the inorganic network via crosslinkers. The coating is provided with at least one mixed inorganic/organic layer which contains, at least in part, an inorganic network encompassing one or several inorganic oxide components, and at least one organic component which at least partly represents an organic oligomer and/or polymer that is covalently bonded at least in part to the inorganic network via one or several organic network formers. The invention also relates to a method for producing said type of pearlescent pigments.
