The invention relates to a method for producing an alumina gel in a single precipitation stage, said precipitation stage consisting in preparing a solution of the precursor aluminium acid, aluminium chloride in water, at a temperature of between 10 and 90°C, such that the pH of the solution is between 0.5 and 5, for a period of between 2 and 60 minutes, followed by adjusting the pH to a pH of between 7.5 and 9.5 by adding a basic precursor, sodium hydroxide, to the solution obtained in order to obtain a suspension, at a temperature of between 5 and 35°C, for a period of between 5 minutes and 5 hours, followed by a filtration step. Said method does not comprise a washing step. The invention also relates to a novel alumina gel having a high dispersibility index, particularly a dispersibility index higher than 80%, a crystallite size of between 0.5 and 10 nm, as well as a chlorine content of between 0.001 wt. % et 2 wt. % and a sodium content of between 0.001 wt. % and 2 wt. %, the weight percentages being expressed in relation to the total mass of alumina gel.

The invention concerns a method of preparing a crystallized solid material having the formula LiCl.2Al(OH) 3 ,nH 2 O, where n is between 0.01 and 10, the method comprising at least the following steps: (a) mixing, in an aqueous medium, at least one alumina source and at least one lithium source in order to obtain a suspension; (b) filtering the suspension obtained in step (a) in order to obtain a paste; (c) drying the paste obtained at the end of step (b) at a temperature of between 20 and 80°C for a period of between 1 and 12 hours; (d) shaping by extrusion of the dried paste, immediately after drying step (c) in order to obtain extruded products, shaping step (d) being performed in the absence of binder; and (e) drying the resulting extruded products at a temperature of between 20 and 200°C for a period of between 1 and 20 hours in order to obtain the crystallized solid material having the formula LiCl.2Al(OH) 3 ,nH 2 O in the form of extruded products. The invention also concerns a method of extracting lithium from saline solutions using the material thus prepared. The invention further concerns a solid crystallized material having the formula LiCl.2Al(OH) 3 ,nH 2 O, n being between 0.01 and 10, shaped. The invention also concerns a device for performing the lithium-extraction method.
