Method and drill bit for producing a countersunk tapped hole, comprising the following two method steps: a drill bit kinematically coupled to the main spindle of the drilling machine and having at least one main drilling cutting edge (10) at its end face (9) and having thread-cutting teeth (8) on its circumference travels in a working stroke in the centre longitudinal direction (3) of the main spindle into the workpiece and synchronously both drills out or bores the core hole and cuts an internal thread in the inner wall of the core hole. In the second method step, the drill bit travels out of the tapped hole thus produced and the main spindle of the drill bit approaches, orthogonally to its centre longitudinal direction, the edge of the tapped hole. The main spindle guides the drill bit with an orbital movement along the edge of the tapped hole, wherein a bevel (14) provided on the drill bit cuts the countersunk portion in the edge of the tapped hole.
