摘要: An apparatus for generating a multi-channel output signal performs a center channel cancellation to obtain improved base channels for reconstructing left-side output channels or right-side output channels. In particular, the apparatus includes a cancellation channel calculator for calculating a cancellation channel using information related to the original center channel available at the decoder. The device furthermore includes a combiner for combining a transmission channel with the cancellation channel. Finally, the apparatus includes a reconstructor for generating the multi-channel output signal. Due to the center channel cancellation, the channel reconstructor not only uses a different base channel for reconstructing the center channel but also uses base channels different from the transmission channels for reconstructing left and right output channels which have a reduced or even completely cancelled influence of the original center channel.

a covariance matrix (Cx) associated to the downmix signal (324),
a second path (610c) for synthesizing a second component (336R') of the synthesis signal, wherein the second component (336R') is a residual component, the second path (610c) including:
a prototype signal block (612c) configured for upmixing the downmix signal (324) from the number of downmix channels to the number of synthesis channels;
a decorrelator (614c) configured for decorrelating the upmixed prototype signal (613c);
a second mixing matrix block (618c) configured for synthesizing the second component (336R') of the synthesis signal according to a second mixing matrix (MR) from the decorrelated version (615c) of the downmix signal (324), the second mixing matrix (MR) being a residual mixing matrix,
wherein the audio synthesizer (300) is configured to calculate (618c) the second mixing matrix (MR) from:
the residual covariance matrix (Cr) provided by the first mixing matrix block(600c); and
an estimate of the covariance matrix of the decorrelated prototype signals (Cy ) obtained from the covariance matrix (Cx) associated to the downmix signal (324),
wherein the audio synthesizer (300) further comprises an adder block (620c) for summing the first component (336M') of the synthesis signal with the second component (336R') of the synthesis signal.-

Moreover, the apparatus comprises an encoding unit (120) being configured to generate a processed audio signal having a first channel and a second channel, such that one or more spectral bands of the first channel of the processed audio signal are one or more spectral bands of the first channel of the normalized audio signal, such that one or more spectral bands of the second channel of the processed audio signal are one or more spectral bands of the second channel of the normalized audio signal, such that at least one spectral band of the first channel of the processed audio signal is a spectral band of a mid signal depending on a spectral band of the first channel of the normalized audio signal and depending on a spectral band of the second channel of the normalized audio signal, and such that at least one spectral band of the second channel of the processed audio signal is a spectral band of a side signal depending on a spectral band of the first channel of the normalized audio signal and depending on a spectral band of the second channel of the normalized audio signal. The encoding unit (120) is configured to encode the processed audio signal to obtain the encoded audio signal.
