    摘要: The invention relates to a sensor for verifying various features of value documents, said sensor performing a self-test to check the operability thereof. Prior to the sensor performing the self-test, at least one of the features to be verified by the sensor is selected. In the self-test, the sensor assesses a malfunction identified during the self-test differently according to the selected feature and reacts differently to the identified malfunction. A malfunction of the sensor used to consistently result in the sensor being down, while the sensor of the invention can still verify certain features in spite of an identified malfunction. The different reactions of the sensor to the identified malfunction according to the selected feature result in a reduction in the number of failures of the sensor.

    摘要: The invention relates to a method for checking valuable documents, which method makes it possible to check the similarity of the intensity spectrum of a valuable document to be checked to a reference spectrum. In order to check the similarity of the intensity spectrum absorbed by the valuable document to be checked to the reference spectrum, the absorbed intensity spectrum itself is not compared with the reference spectrum, but rather a corrected intensity spectrum which has been adapted to the reference spectrum and results from the absorbed intensity spectrum by means of a linear correction. The correction parameters of the linear correction function are determined by adapting the linearly corrected intensity spectrum to the reference spectrum. Adaptation results in fluctuations in the absorbed intensity spectrum, which are caused by the measuring technique, being at least partially compensated for.
