摘要: There is described a new coding approach for printed document authentication, one objective of which is to increase the difficulty of copying. In addition, this new coding approach provides better performance compared to other 2D coding technologies under certain constraints. The new coding technique requires less print space in comparison to other coding techniques. This is achieved by optimizing some of the features which are used in standard 2D-codes for stabilization and which are necessary for e.g. mobile applications. Furthermore, the code can be decomposed in elementary units, or “byte-units” which can be widely spread over a text document. Such “byte-units” can in particular be used for integration in text symbols. If a document protected with such a coding is copied, at least some of these symbols will be extensively degraded by the copying process. Therefore, copy detection is intrinsically achieved thanks to the new coding technique.

摘要: The invention relates to a method for the automatic examination of the genuineness of value-indicating stamps and indicia comprising a luminescent area, the stamp or indicium being applied to the surface of a mail item. The surface of the item is lighted with light of a wavelength of a spectral range, a first image of the surface of the item is recorded by means of a camera system and said first image is evaluated with respect to the location of stamps or indicia applied thereto on the surface of the item. The surface of the item is then lighted with light of a wavelength of a second spectral range, said light being suitable to excite luminescence of the luminescent ink, and a second image of the surface of the item is recorded under this light by means of a second camera system, said second image being evaluated with respect to the location of luminescence. The two evaluations are compared with each other with respect to the criterion of the presence of luminescence in the location or in the locations to which stamps or indicia according to the evaluation of the first image are present, only those stamps or indicia being examined further in the following steps which were detected to show luminescence. An image section or image sections of the second image is/are then defined for the location/locations in which the presence of stamps or indicia were detected, said image section or said image sections being evaluated with respect to the determination of location and geometry of the luminescence pattern of every stamp or indicium recognized on the surface of the item for which the presence of luminescence was recognized. A comparison of the evaluation of the image section or image sections with stored luminescence patterns will lead, when these match, to a decision on the genuineness of every stamp or indicium.

摘要: This invention relates to validation of security papers, documents, banknotes, artworks and brand products. The technical results of the invention are the implementation of the cost-effective and mass-producible security labels with the hidden polarized mono- or multi- color images without any visible outlines of such polarized images, the method of forming said labels, as well as the method of the product authenticity verification with the assistance of the security labels claimed. The claimed security label comprises a sequentially disposed metallic reflective layer and an optically anisotropic transparent substrate, as well as an element able to change optical properties of the said substrate in order to form a hidden polarized image. The element changing the optical properties of the substrate is made in the form of mask that covers a face side of the substrate by the same metallic material that is used for the reflective layer on a reverse side of the substrate. In the second version the claimed security label comprises at least two transparent superposed optically anisotropic substrates, each mask is performed using a solid fill printing method with blank spaces made in accordance with the hidden image graphics. These blank spaces are made in such way that they may coincide or may not coincide for adjacent optically anisotropic transparent substrates, and for each section of such optically anisotropic transparent substrates with the blank spaces in their masks laying under the blank space of the top substrate mask the total optical thickness, Formula (I), where

摘要: The invention relates to a method for providing a redundant embedded optical signature on a document (120; 170), wherein the optical signature is in the form of an embedded optical pattern that is generated from and represents a mathematical value embodied as printed geometric relationships of relative distances and angles of various data stars on the document (120; 170), the method comprising the steps of: identifying background space areas (122) on the document (120; 170); defining a plurality of blocks (132, 134, 136, 138) of star fields for the space areas (122), the blocks of star fields having different shapes so as to fit within the available space areas; defining a plurality of galaxies (126; 160; 172) of multiple blocks of star fields, wherein each galaxy comprises a guide cluster (142; 150; 162; 174) having a plurality of guide stars (140; 152) that identify the proper orientation of the galaxy (126; 160; 172) on the document (120; 170) and the remaining blocks of star fields orbit the guide cluster (142; 150; 162; 174) and contain data stars; and wherein only one of the galaxies (126; 160; 172) need be decoded for all of the embedded optical data to be recovered from the document (120; 170). The invention also relates to a respective document.
