摘要: A fan 100 installed in a building component (window, door, wall, ceiling). The fan comprises a body having an inner spigot 300 and a concentric sleeve 110 disposed radially outer of the spigot such that air flows between the spigot and the sleeve. The spigot houses a motor 310 suitable for driving an impeller 320 and control electronics 350 suitable for controlling the motor. The fan also comprises an attachment means 140, 150 suitable for attaching the fan to the building component and a grille 165 located behind the body. The grille comprises a plurality of louvers 170 that open when the fan is in operation. The louvers may hang down in a closed position when the fan is not operated and rotated open when air is driven through the fan. The spigot may house voltage transformation electronics. The attachment mechanism may comprise an inside plate within a room and outside plate located outside the room and may clamp the building component in use.

摘要: A fan mounting assembly comprising: a first plate to which a fan is mountable; a second plate for attachment to said first plate; at least one fixing means for attaching said first plate to said second plate, said at least one fixing means attaching to at least one mount point on said second plate, and said second plate being formed from a material comprising polycarbonate. The polycarbonate strengthens the structure and reduces brittleness. The reinforced structure increases the resistance of the structure to impact and/or crushing attacks. Other reinforcements may be used to hinder access to the structure by various tools which may be used in such attacks. A method of mounting a fan is also provided.
