The invention relates to salts from at least one imidazole of general formula (I), wherein R1, R2, R3 and R4 are the same or different and represent hydrogen, an alkyl group with 1 to 20, preferably 1 to 10, especially 1 to 4 carbon atoms or a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group or arylalkyl group with 6 to 10 carbon atoms, and at least one aliphatic or aromatic monocarboxylic or dicarboxylic acid. The molar ratio of carboxylic acid to imidazole based on the functionality of the acid is 1:1.1 to 1:6. The invention also relates to a method for producing the imidazole salts, to their use and to epoxy resins that contain these salts.

The invention relates to hardening compositions, comprising a hardening component and a m-hydroxybenzene derivative of general formula (I): where Y = carboxyl, carboxylate, or straight-chain or branched alkyl, optionally substituted with hydroxy, amino, carboxyl and/or carboxylate groups and R1, R2 and R3 independently = H or OH, where R1 and R3 are not simultaneously OH, with the proviso that when the hardening composition is a thermally-hardening component of a multi-component epoxy-based system, the hardening composition is free of transition metal oxides of the copper and zinc groups and, when the hardening component is an epoxy-based thermally-hardening component, the above is not a self-hardening component. The invention further relates to the use of the m-hydroxybenzene derivative as aging inhibitor in coating agents and adhesives and a method for coating or gluing of substrates.
