Where, it is assumed that flyback pulse voltage supplied to the deflection yoke means (6) is V₀, reverse pulse voltage having a polarity reverse to that of voltage generated in the interior conductive coating (13) is V₁, electrostatic capacity between the horizontal deflection coil and the interior conductive coating (13) is C₀, and electrostatic capacity between the electrode (8) in the conductive coating form and the interior conductive coating (13) is C₁.

In a deflection yoke to be attached on a neck portion of a cathode ray tube for use, showing over 90° and equal or less than 115° in deflection angle thereof and having the neck being equal or greater than φ 18 mm and equal or less than φ 26 mm in diameter thereof, thickness of a magnetic core is thinned in vertical direction with respect to in horizontal direction, and sizes of horizontal and vertical deflection coils and the magnetic core are selected to be equal or greater than 80 mm and equal or less than 100 mm, equal or greater than 50 mm and equal or less than 70 mm, and equal or greater than 30 mm and equal or less than 50 mm, respectively, and further the magnetic core is positioned near to the neck portion side of the cathode ray tube with respect to those horizontal and vertical deflection coils. With use of the deflection yoke having such structure as mentioned in the above, not only small-sizing and weight-lighting and low energy consumption can be obtained, but also it is possible to suppress generation of geometric distortion and misconvergence, while maintaining good deflection sensitivity characteristics, as well as to reduce useless magnetic field emission below the standardized value thereof.

A cathode-ray tube apparatus capable of reducing a high frequency electric field radiated from the deflection yoke (3) and the deflection and high voltage circuit (4) to the outside of the cathode-ray tube apparatus (1). Mounted on the deflection yoke (3) or on the cathode-ray tube (2) are an induction coil (10) for generating a pulse voltage (e2) opposite in polarity to a high pulse voltage (e1) applied to the h (8) and an electric field cancellation electrode (6) made of a conductive wire to which the opposite polarity pulse voltage is applied. When the opposite polarity pulse voltage (e2, e3) is applied to the electric field cancellation electrode (6), the electric field cancellation electrode (6) radiates an electric field opposite in polarity to the high frequency electric field radiated from the deflection yoke (3) to the outside of the cathode-ray tube apparatus (1) to reduce the intensity of the high frequency electric field.
