摘要:
The anode (2) and cathode (4) of a secondary battery are constructed by assembling graphite in its form. By employing the graphite as the starting material of the manufacture of the battery in this manner, the disintegration of the electrodes during the manufacture can be prevented. The battery thus manufactured exhibits battery function once it is charged and thenceforth, each time discharge and charge is repeated, the electrodes switch between the states of the graphite and graphite interlayer compounds owing to their reactions with ions and release of the ions, so that a high battery performance is achieved.

A methanol fuel cell wherein a positive electrode (2) and a negative electrode (1) are disposed in contact with a solid film (3) which exhibits a hydrogen ion- and/ or hydronium ion-conductivity. The methanol permeability coefficient of the solid film (3) of the methanol fuel cell is at most 1 x 10- 6 mol/mol/ℓ).min.cm 2 .

The present invention provides a sheet-shaped polymer secondary battery of layer built type which is a laminate of plurality of sheet-shaped unit cells each of which comprising the following elements (a) to (c):
(a) a positive electrode (1) made of a film-shaped polymer having conjugated double bonds and provided with a thin metal layer (3a; 3b) at one side of the surface of the film and capable of reversibly doping and undoping negative ions, (b) a negative electrode (2) made of a film-shaped polymer having conjugated double bonds and provided with a thin metal layer (4a; 4b) at one side of the surface of the film and capable of reversibly doping and undoping positive ions, and (c) an insulating porous separator (5) supporting a dopant-containing electrolyte and existing between the positive electrode (1) and the negative electrode (2).
By the use of the present invention, the current-collecting efficiency can be enhanced and also the charging-discharging efficiency can be increased.
