摘要： An attachment plate (1)is used to attach insulation panels (57) to building substrates (59) using an internal combustion cordless nail setting tool (55) loaded with nails (77) held in collating strips (79) for feeding and holding them in a magazine. The attachment plate (1) has a washer (2) and an annular chamber (51) at a first end. A wall of the annular chamber is defined by a band of fingers. The interior of the attachment plate (1) has a recess (30). The attachment plate (1) second end has flexible tabs. The attachment plate (1) is placed on a pilot (67) and against a flange (65) of a tool adapter (63). The attachment plate (1) is pushed into the insulation panel (57) such that the tool muzzle bends and passes through the fingers (45). When the tool (55) is fired, a nail (77) and nail collating ring (79) are forced into and captured within the recess (30). The tabs (41) bend against the substrate (59) if the insulation panel (57) is of less than nominal thickness.

摘要： A screw (10) for use with a washer (16) as a sealing fastener having formations (28,30) near the head (22) of the screw (10) to increase driving resistance when the portion (28) having the formations (30) reaches a surface (12) into which the screw (10) is being driven. The screw (10) includes a shank (18) with a tip end and a head end. A head (22) at the head end may be driven by a driving tool such as a pneumatic or electric drill. To facilitate retention of the washer (16) the head (22) has a flange (32) that forms a recess (34). The shank (18) has an enlarged portion (28) near the head (22) adjacent to the recess (34) and the enlarged portion (28) has ridges (30). The enlarged portion (28), including the ridges (30), increases the driving resistance of the screw (10). This increase in resistance gives notice to an operator of the driving tool that an appropriate driving depth and torque have been achieved. Preferably, the washer (16) has an inner diameter surface (42) with fully radiused projections (44). The projections (44) assist in mounting the washer (16) to the screw (10) and keeping the washer (16) appropriately positioned on the screw (10) during storage and driving.

摘要： A strip (10) of collated fasteners (12), each having a shank (18) and a head (22) includes, a carrier (30) moulded from a polymeric material with a sleeve (32) for each fastener (12). Each sleeve (32) has an annular portion and a breakable portion (36), which breaks into two segments as the fastener (12) gripped by such a sleeve is driven. The breakable portion, which is notched at one end, has a pair of similar, laterally opposed, outwardly opening, continuously curved concave recesses with open windows, from which portions of the fastener shank (18) emerges. In a fastener-guiding tool, parallel ribs of a guiding device fit into such recesses, into close proximity with the emerging portions, so as to guide the strip between such ribs.
