摘要： A compound of the formula R1.[(AO)n.—R2]m (I) where: R1 is the residue of a group having at least m active hydrogen atoms; AO is an alkylene oxide residue; each n is independently from 1 to 100; m is at least 2; and each R2 is independently H, a C1 to C21 hydrocarbyl, or an acyl group —OC.R3, where R3 is a C1 to C21 hydrocarbyl group, wherein on average greater than one of the R2 groups is or comprises a C4 to C21 hydrocarbyl group comprising at least two ethylenic double bonds. The compounds are particularly suitable for use in preparing aqueous emulsions or dispersions of resins and polymers, especially alkyd resins.

摘要： Agrochemical compositions including compounds of the general formula (I): R?1-(R2)X1¿-[Link]-R3 where R1 is polyhydroxy hydrocarbyl; R2 is H or hydrocarbyl, or is a group as defined for R1; X1 is a nitrogen containing group as defined, Link is a linking group of the formula (II): -CH¿2?-CHOH-X?2¿- where X2 is as defined and R3 is hydrocarbyl, usually C¿6? to C30, hydrocarbyl. The compounds of the formula (I) can function as emulsifiers, dispersants or, and particularly, as adjuvants. The agrochemical can be a plant growth reguators, herbicides, and/or pesticides, for example insecticides, fungicides, acaricides, nematocides, miticides, rodenticides, bactericides, molluscicides and/or a bird repellent. Particularly useful formulations include water soluble herbicide(s), particularly such as Glyphosate, Sulfosate, Glufosinate and Paraquat. The invention further includes compounds of the formula (IIa): R?1-(R2)X1-[Link1]-R3¿ where R?1, R2, and R3¿ are as defined above for formula (I); and Link1 is a defined linking group; and compounds of the formula (IIb): R?1-(R2)X1a-[Link2]-R3¿ where R?1, R2, and R3¿ are as defined above for formula (I); X1a is a nitrogen containing group as defined and Link2 is a defined linking group.

摘要： A process of preparing cyclic ethers is described. The process involves the reaction of at least one organic compound such as a dioi or a polyol which it has at least one pair of hydroxyl groups separated by 4 or 5 carbon atoms, and which is capable of being converted into an ether linkage, with an organic carbonate in the presence of a base. The base is an alkoxy, a carbonate or a hydroxide base or is a mixture of such bases. At least one of the hydroxyl groups of the organic compound is not a tertiary hydroxyl group.
