The group also comprises a circular tool (5) with a sharp, toothed edge which is mounted in a rotatable manner on a support (7) and is suited to roll on the roller (3), producing a longitudinal perforation (6) on the paper (1). The support (7) is able to simultaneously carry out a translation movement along the bar and a rotation movement with respect to the bar's axis. The rotation movement greatly facilitates the rapid approach of the tool (5) with respect to the paper (1) and roller (3), in a direction tangential to them, upon the action of actuators (12, 13, 23, 24). It is thus possible to intermittently perforate the paper without wear on the tool since it rotates at a surface speed equal to that of the countersupport roller (3) and the paper (1).

A device for effecting the tearing of a paper sheet (40), or the like, along a pre-punched straight line or area (46) substantially transversal with respect to the sheet is disclosed. The tearing device comprises two roll pairs (10, 12) having opposed cylinders (14, 16) in which the cylinders are so shaped to have two opposed planar faces (36, 38) for delimitating a free passage for the sheet (40) while the remaining faces (42, 44) are of substantially convex shape, so that, when the rolls (10, 12) rotate, said convex faces (42, 44) get each other in touch, grasping the sheet (40). The angular speed of both roll pairs (10, 12) is the same but, according to the invention, the cross-section of the cylinders (16) of the rolls (12) located downstream of the pre-punched area (46) is larger than that of the cylinders (14) of the rolls (10) located upstream of the area so that the peripheral speed of the first ones is higher than that of the second ones, that causing the development of a tensile action on the sheet (40) during the contact time of the sheet itself with the convex faces (42, 44) of the above mentioned cylinders (14, 16) and the tearing of the pre-punched area (46).

For the service of laser printers an apparatus is provided mainly attending to the receiving,piling up and transfer of sheet material or continuous form, wherein the continuous form arriving from the laser printer is serially passed through a tearing mechanism (18), which can be actuated through a command signal, a folding mechanism (20) which can be too actuated when the printer is fed from a paper reel, and a receiving mechanism (22) comprising a receiving plane movable between a first initial raised position and a second lowered position for the discharge of the completed package, the receiving mechanism comprising selfcentering means for the side delimitation of the receiving plane as a function of the size of the forms forming the continuous band to be piled up and pressing means by which the edges of the already deposited sheets are alternately pressed every 5 to 10 sheets, the apparatus compring a dragging member (11) for the paper band (S) coming from the laser printer which is driven at intervals, preferably by means of a stepping motor, so as to strictly control and adjust the length of paper which is advanced each time the dragging member is actuated as well as its rate. According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the apparatus is provided, upstream of said dragging member, with a cross perforation device (186) adapted to carry out, downstream of the laser printer, the cross weakening lines for the tearing operation between adjacent forms.

Devices for collecting a continuous paper web (12) and for therefrom obtaining at least a pair of strips (24, 26) consisting of a plurality of forms, are disclosed. The devices comprise, at the inlet, a station (20) for longitudinally cutting the web (12) into two strips (24, 26) and driving means for the web (12) advancement. The so formed strips (24, 26) freely each other meet in the air at a forwarding shaft (27) to which come in substantially superimposed condition and from which they depart because of at least a pair of forwarding bars (33, 33a) from which they come out to be forwardwd to a form collecting and stacking station. Alternatively, the two so obtained strips (24, 26) are sent to two forwarding shafts (28, 30) substantially each other parallel and staggered along the advancing direction of the strips (24, 26) so that one (24) of the strips, which are freely coming down by gravity from the shafts (28, 30), results in advanced position with respect to the other one, and, after having formed a loop (44), is directly sent in a slot (38) of a crosspiece (40) downstream arranged with respect to said shafts (28, 30), the other strip (26), after having formed a loop (36) inside the the loop (44) of the first strip (24), is passed at first on a forwarding shaft (32) upstream arranged with respect to the crosspiece (40) and downstream arranged with respect to the shafts (28, 30) according to the advancing direction of the strips (24, 26) and then sent into the above mentioned slot (38) of the crosspiece (40) from which the strips (24, 26) come out in superimposed condition to be forwarded to forwarding means (48) provided at the outlet of the device to which are associated cutting means (50) for removing the punched lateral bands from the strips (24, 26).
