    Abstract: The number of sub-parts of a closed structure part and the number of steps for manufacturing the closed structure part can be reduced and, therefore, the closed structure part can be efficiently manufactured. In a hemming press step, a punch 84 is further lowered, and a pair of flange portions 20 and 22 is inserted into a slit clearance 102. At that time, hemming prongs 28 are bent and, each of the hemming prongs 28 sandwiches the flange portion 22. Thus, the flange portion 20, which is one of the two flange portions, is joined to the other flange portion 22. At the same time, a pair of press forming surfaces 96 of the punch 84 presses a metal plate and performs press-forming on a pair of shoulder portions 26 of a blank 24 into a predetermined shape.     Abstract: A method for reducing the number of sub-parts of a closed structure part and the number of steps for manufacturing the closed structure part is provided and, therefore, the closed structure part is efficiently manufactured. In the method for manufacturing closed structure parts, a punch 84 is moved in the pressing direction. A joint end 19, which is one of two joint ends of a blank 24, is bent using a pressing force exerted by a flange processing portion 102. The joint end 19 overlaps a joint end 21, which is the other joint end of the blank 24. The joint end 19 is made into a latch flange portion 20 for latching the joint end 21.     Abstract: A curved-part forming method includes a bending process in which blanks 1 and 2 having a curved outline corresponding to a curve of a curved part 30 in a longitudinal direction is bent into a sectional shape corresponding to a division portion of a sectional shape of the curved part, and a joining process in which two (or three of more) portions 10 and 20 obtained by the bending process are joined together. In a conventional forming method, when single high-strength steel sheets are used are materials, forming into desired curved parts cannot be achieved by one-piece press forming; or, when single low-strength steel sheets are used as materials, forming into curved parts can be achieved, but the parts lack strength. Therefore, the parts have insufficient strength, as a result of which weight is increased due to an increase in the number of reinforcing parts.
