The faceplate 5 is coated with a phosphor layer for emitting a visible light by bombardment of the electron beam on its inner surface and is covered with a antistatic film 8. To prevent accumulation of electrostatic charges, the antistatic film 8 is electrically connected to a metal tension band 6 wound around the sidewall portion 7 by a connecting element 9. The connecting element 9 is conductive oxide layer which essentialiy consists of a conductive substance and a binder containing at least amorphous silicon oxide or silicon hydroxide.
