    摘要: There is disclosed a liquid crystal display device which comprises liquid crystal materials (c) aligned between a pair of substrates (1, 2) each having an alignment layer, respectively, characterized in that the following conditions (a) to (c) are satisfied:

    (a) the twist angle (α) of the liquid crystal molecules aligned between the above pair of substrates is 200° to 300°;
    (b) the following relationship formula (1) is valid between the spontaneous twist pitch Ps of the liquid crystal molecules and the regulated twist pitch Pc of the liquid crystal molecules when the arrangement of liquid crystal molecules is compulsorily regulated by the alignment layers:
          0 ≦ (Pc - Ps)/Pc ≦ 0.3 ....... (1); and
    (c) the following relationship formula (2) is valid between the splay elastic constant k₁₁ and the bend elastic constant k₃₃ of the above liquid crystal materials:

    摘要: A recording medium having a reflective layer (6) on a transparent support (1) can be obtained by physical development of a layer of physical development nuclei (2) in the presence of metal ions. The ions can for instance migrate from a colloid layer of a metal salt (6). The association of developed nuclei, after physical development, results in a reflective layer with metal atoms obtained by reducing the metal ions, whose reflectivity is reduced on irradiation through the transparent support. The manufacture of such recording media does not require vacuum system.
