The invention relates to a method for adapting at least one print image and/or of at least one cylinder dressing to a printing material change in a printing machine, in which at least two cylinder dressings (08) are in each case arranged on different plate cylinders (07), a tensile stress (FZ) being established in the respective cylinder dressings (08). The respective tensile stress (FZ) is passed subsequently into the respective cylinder dressing (08), which is arranged on a second plate cylinder (07), relative to the clamping element (20), which is adjusted at a position on a first plate cylinder (07). The adaptation to the printing material change is carried out during the rotation of the second plate cylinder (07) in the circumferential direction (B) thereof in addition to the displacement of the relevant clamping element (20) with a drive of the second plate cylinder (07) by means of a controlled and/or regulated rotational movement of said plate cylinder (07), wherein a profile of an angular position of the second plate cylinder (07) relative to an angular position of a cylinder (04; 06) guiding printing material is controlled or regulated.
