The invention relates to a device for the metered injection of a reducing agent into the exhaust manifold (2) of an internal combustion engine. The aim of the invention is to allow injection with continuously high and uniform atomization quality irrespective of the flow rate. For this purpose, a pump (1), especially a piston pump (18) or a diaphragm pump (29) is used. Said pump delivers the reducing agent in a pulsed manner to a nozzle (5) leading to the exhaust manifold (2). Said nozzle (5) is provided with a valve element (33) which automatically opens and closes a flow passage at the rate of the delivery pulse of the pump (1) and which does not allow injection of the reducing agent in lower pressure ranges so that atomization takes place in high pressure ranges only.
