A control unit (CU) assigns a measured angular position (θ H ) to each combination of the position pulses (P1, P2, P3), calculates the angular positions of the motor in the intervals between the measured angular positions (θ H ) by interpolation, and drives the motor by feedback with pilot position values (θ) deriving from the measured angular positions (θ H ) and the calculated angular positions (θ S ). The control unit (CU) comprises a decision block (DEC) which makes the difference between the measured angular positions (θ H ) and the calculated angular positions (θ S ), and compares the absolute value of the difference with a predetermined treshold value, whereby, if the absolute value of the difference is below the treshold value, then the decision block selects the calculated position signal (θ S ) as pilot position signal (θ), otherwise it selects the measured position signal (θ H ).
