The present invention provides a method for preparing a conjugated diene-based polymer, the method comprising the steps of: preparing a mixture of a molecular weight regulator and a conjugated diene-based monomer; and performing a polymerization reaction of the mixture using a catalyst composition containing a lanthanum-based rare earth element-containing compound modified methyl aluminoxane, a halogen compound, and an aliphatic hydrocarbon-based solvent, and thus the method an prepare a conjugated diene-based polymer, which has a high content of cis-1,4-bonds, high linearity, and a narrow molecular weight distribution.
