摘要:
There is disclosed a method of de-spreading signals in a spread-spectrum communication system, comprising: providing a bank of rake fingers; and dynamically allocating at least one of the bank of rake fingers to de-spread a received signal. The number of rake fingers dynamically allocated is determined by the number of multi-paths associated with the received signal. A plurality of signals are received in different channels, wherein at least one of the bank of rake fingers is allocated to de-spread each received signal.

There is disclosed a method of estimating the timing error of a received signal in a spread spectrum communication system comprising: cross-correlating a portion of the received signal with a known sequence thereby generating a sampled cross-correlation function; determining the sample having the highest value of the sampled cross-correlation function; and estimating the timing position of the actual peak of the cross-correlation function based on the sample point peak value of the sampled cross-correlation function and the values of the cross-correlation function at sample points before and after the sample generating the peak value.

According to the present invention there is provided a method of recovering transmitted symbols in the receiver of a spread spectrum system, comprising: receiving a signal including multi-path components associated with a transmitted symbol; de-spreading successive portions of the received signal to provide a symbol estimate based on each multi-path, wherein at least one multi-path of the transmitted symbol is contained in separate portions, the de-spreading step further comprising determining a partial estimate of the transmitted symbol for the at least one multi-path component based on each part of the multi-path contained in each separate portion; and summing said partial estimates.

There is disclosed a method for processing received signals in a spread-spectrum communication system. The method comprises receiving spread-spectrum signals in a plurality of channels; de-spreading the received spread spectrum signal received in each channel; and routing the de-spread received signal in each channel for further processing. The step of de-spreading the received spread-spectrum signals is preferably included in a demodulating step in the plurality of channels.
