In order to solve the problem that a stripe pattern trails when a dynamic image is displayed on a liquid crystal panel, thereby deteriorating the quality of image, an echo suppressing circuit (100) divides a video signal into pairs of consecutive frames and compares the levels of the two frames for each pair, thus suppressing the echo phenomenon occurring when a video signal including a dynamic image is displayed on a liquid crystal panel (108). When the signal levels are different, the signal is corrected to equalize the signal levels. A controller (102) drives the liquid crystal panel with an AC voltage through a source driver (104) and a gate driver (106) based on the video signal corrected through the echo suppressing circuit (100). The AC drive voltage for driving the liquid crystal panel is regulated so that the positive and negative voltages are balanced, thus preventing a stripe pattern from trailing during the displaying of a dynamic image.
